We all make mistakes. sometimes they are deadly ones though.

Well, another cameo, and NOT someone with potential cannon fodder role (at least…it seems that way).
It would also seem that we’re about to get some more background, hopefully. Either way it looks like things are about to get VERY interesting…
wait, is she PERMANENTLY BLIND!?!!?!!!!
June 19th, 2011 at 12:45 am
I’m gonna call seeing something, but not see what to see if anyone else notices it without being told…

Star Org doctors don’t seem as bad as their patrol counter parts. Marbel looks very nice with her turtle nuck.
Though looking at Cypress’s past memory, one can see why she jumped in the pool. Though the fact that this flame creature knew her family name might mean that this might have been a power grab.

Yay, interrobangs.

I am surprised she is still alive but glowing goop is not a proper hiding place

That’s the first time I’ve seen that “shiitake mushrooms” outside of Spy Kids.

I like this page. Nice work! I imagine that most doctors StarOrg are a cut above most of the patrol; Patrol-grade doctors seem like the type to look at an injury, and amputate the limb. Which gets awkward when dealing with a brain hemorrhage.

Ha, called it.
Hmm, they brought Cypress back from what seemed liked certain death, but eyes are fragile things. Well, if Daisy can build a cybernetic leg, I don’t see why there can’t be a mechanical replacement for eyes.

Well, at least this makes last week’s strip make some sense.

i dig the eye things doing question marks, but what is the thingy thats on fire?
@Josh.C – marble is actually a dude. but dont worry, he is very girly so its an easy mistake. so girly in fact its rumored he has a uterus
@Mason – marble is a fan of earth culture, specifically new millenium japanese anime. he gets most of it wrong though.

that was likely a memory. i’m guess someone burning down her family home and her mother saving here. But was it a Djinn or a celeste? that we may never know.

That last panel sure is a downer… I’m glad we get to learn more about what happened, but I almost want the rest to be left to the imagination.
@nikolai60:
‽
@Josh.C: I think you’re right-on about that. And given what Veled says here http://www.lastres0rt.com/2008/11/showering-is-honestly-very-important/ , I wonder if this wasn’t an assassination to pave the way for the Celeste takeover of Ziligo. If that’s the case, just how powerful was the Vaeo family ~20 years ago?
@LeQuack147: Props! ^_^ Golden Braun has a mechanical eye, so I wonder what those emoti-goggles are for. Healing? Simple expression?
@Brunhidden and e_voyager: That fire thingy is probably an Efreet, a Djinn like Sedja. ( http://www.lastres0rt.com/2007/05/well-it-was-either-reveal-it-now-or-wait-three-years/ ) Could be a Celeste in disguise, but I doubt it.
June 21st, 2011 at 11:10 am
@Sulucamas: Well if we take in Veled’s interactions with Cypress and flash backs to her mom as any indication, then we see Veled has had a bit of interaction with Cypress’s family.
Looking at her talk with Jigsaw, I’d take it that Celeste plots were common at one time on that planet and after her associate was killed she said “Enough is enough!”. Thus preventing Cypress’s problem turning into a situation like Slick’s family.
I wouldn’t put it past a Celeste to hire an Ifrit hitman. Though at times I wonder if I shouldn’t put it past any of Cypress’s family either.
I doubt all Celeste and Dead inside are bad though.

@Josh.C: Definitely. If Anna Vaeo was important enough to be killed like this, she’d probably have known the Messiah from a young age, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a mentor to Veled in some capacity. That kind of connection would explain why Veled would try to protect the Vaeos before and after this incident.
Things probably were pretty cutthroat back then, on all sides. However, I’d imagine that these kinds of Celeste plots still abound. Now that they run the show (figuratively) and have control over the media, they can continue to be as “openly” brutal as they want and still get away with it.
You raise a fair point comparing this to Candycane’s takeover of the Giovannis. The Celeste weren’t fully in power yet, but I wonder if anything would have “legally” prevented the remaining Vaeos from retaining control of the family assets. Veled almost certainly played a supportive role, either way.
(Now I’d really like to know if Candycane had any ties to Celigo before his coup, or even currently!)

Please eat some shiitake mushrooms… That was a great movie…
