Remember me going on about Volume One coming out soon? Well, it’s here. The first copies of Last Res0rt – First Against The Wall are in my hands, and… well, most webcomics would be willing to do a preorder and risk coming up short on funds, but this was what the cameo drive was meant to prevent. At the same time, there’s been a lot of energy into making sure the books came in time for the spring conventions… and it does nobody any good to not have books on hand because they already sold out online first.

So… we’re doing a rolling launch.

• We’ll be having the books available only to convention-goers for the first couple of weeks, first at MomoCon (March 20-21), and then Furry Weekend Atlanta (March 26-28) the next weekend.
• After Furry Weekend Atlanta, we’ll open up sales of the books online, to the public.
• If for whatever reason we run out of books to sell, we’ll take orders at the conventions as well (same as we do for commissions) and deal with it from there.

Despite all forces conspiring against us, we’ve made it into the MomoCon Artist’s Alley in the Piedmont Room (marked on this nifty and unnecessarily 3D map). Unfortunately we can’t provide much better in the way of directions, but you shouldn’t have a hard time finding us once you make it to the room.

Bug Pudding is another webcomic in the family, and and since a certain someone saw a similar cake done for Coby Cur and had a birthday coming up, I decided to whip up a cake for him as well (with some help from one of my cake-making friends).

Head on over to Bug Pudding and start reading… and wish him a happy birthday while you’re at it!

Voting is now open on the Pi Mile t-shirt contest — yes, that’s my entry right there, too — and voting couldn’t be easier!

• Voting is once per day per IP address (so trying to vote with multiple computers at home / in a school lab likely won’t work)
• Winner is announced March 12, so  vote once a day up until then!
• Winner gets a Flip Video Camera (which would come in handy for conventions, hint hint…)

Footnote: Anachronistic, you say?

Well, yeah, it’s about as relevant a metaphor to them as going on about “thirty pieces of silver” and people hiding inside wooden horses and other crazy things that happened just as long ago is to us.  ‘Course, in this case, it’s also the context that matters, and since we are talking about someone being tortured into giving a confession here…

Language is a funny thing, and since “The Spanish Inquisition” is a lot harder to get across to someone not from Terth (“What’s a Spain?”), “Confessing to 9/11″ has become the refuge phrase for angsty teens, harried spouses, and mistreated employees all across the GET-speaking galaxy whenever they get a few too many questions.

The lesson of all this? Be careful telling folks to remember certain things — they may not remember the same parts you want them to.
